Kgalagadi photographers and movement scientists meet.
What is the Khalri program?
Joe Lategan and Louise van Biljon of Khalri have been collaborating over the past three years to roll out a model to rally the kgalagadi photographers community to assist movement scientists to develop unique programs for cognitive development. We want to rally our photographer community to assist Khalri movement scientists to further develop their international program to develop the cognitive ability of kids through movement science or documenting the movement of kids and animals to apply specifically to the kids in and around the Kgalagadi Transfrontier area.
The gift of playing in and with nature is fast losing its impact on kids on the planet as kids spend more and more time facing screens and not interacting in play with each other.
This play must be channeled to a specific goal to also guide adults to appreciate the value of play and to guide it into values and education. Traditional playing or games and Play that are coupled with animal movement and behaviour must be mimicked constructive and free play.
So we want to identify recognise and then interpret this movements or play scientifically to implement a plan that incorporates meaningful and measurable play into syllabus of schools or houses. For instance, education for parents and adults in baby stimulation and child development.
We have partnered with KHALRI movement scientists and offered to rally photographers/ film makers of the Kgalagadi to provide footage to interpret scientifically into programs that can benefit kids cognitively. Hopefully we can document the process for maximum effect and to assist other kids along and within the KTP boundaries.
