Cape to Upington

The most popular of this major route from Cape to Kgalagadi is straight from the N7 around Malmesbury where traffic from Cape Town and Southern interior meet in the south to Vanrynsdorp. Here the majority of travellers turn right to Calvinia through Brandvlei, Kenhard towards Upington. The rest of the travellers to Upington/ Kgalagadi drive straight through on the N7 to Springbok where they turn right towards and through Pofadder towards Upington. Most accommodation can be found along these two routes.

Upington to Kalahari gemsbok park / kgalagadi

A large number or around 80% of travellers driving from all the different directions in South Africa to Upington. It is therefore the most popular stay over on route to the Kalahari gemsbok park or Kgalagadi Transfrontier park and has a wide range of accommodation for any traveller.

  

Gauteng to Upington

There are many routes that link to the main route into Upington from interior of South Africa or VanZylsrust / Askam gravel road. The N14 probably takes the majority.

Eastern cape to Upington

The main N10 links many other small roads towards the Kalahari gemsbok park through Cradock and De Aar.

Bloemfontein to Upington

The N8 is the major route from Bloemfontein , the capital of the Free State province of South Africa through Upington to the Kalahari gemsbok park or what is known as the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park now.
